Hi, it's my first time to leave you a message, thought I can share some of the information re living in Hall of residence at Uni for your daughter (you may already know but may be helpful at home point ) It has been over ten years for me but the experience will never expired.
For wifi, you can consider the option of MiFi from mobile network, 3 is pretty good and the coverage is good in the South of England. There may be student discount so check the deal
Also as she is at University now, she should have NUS card, right? Remember to check all the stores like PC World (or even all retail stores) and restaurant which offer 10-20% student discount. you can save quite a bit
Railcard also offer good discount if she will be travelling by train to come home to see you at holiday period and book in advanced to save 1/3
I don't know if the University have asked you to buy any content insurance for your daughter's belonging? If there isn't you can consider to get one just for her at the time she's at the Hall of residence or check if your current home and content insurance can cover her (normally does, up to a limit). This is for a peace of mind rather than spending thousands if any accidental damage to her belongings or theft. Laptop/printers/bank cards etc etc these are easy to buy and the cost of replacing could be high
It looks like it is a shared kitchen and there shouldn't have much problem but in case she find food gone missing etc. She can consider putting a label on the packet food/can or tinned food/ drink in the fridge in the kitchen, just to avoid any conflict. Maybe everyone will eventually get along and start to share the cooking etc. I found that, it's not the person who live there to take the food without asking but their mates when they come and hang out...
Again, this is just something myself/my hubby and my brother come across from boarding school and at University. It may not happen or needed but thought I'd share and hope you don't mind.
Wish her a happy university life.
